Walking the Walk

Walking the Walk

1. Walk In Newness Of Life

Rom. 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

– The believer has been liberated from the way that use to live their life and can now enjoy walking is a different way, the new way based on the new live that is now within them in Christ. It is his very resurrection life living in the believer.
2. Walk In the Power of the Spirit

Gal. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
-It takes fuel to live and walk and for the Christian that fuel (power) comes from the Holy Spirit. This only way for a believer who talks like a believer to also walk like a believer is through the enablement of the Holy Spirit. This is not self-propelled motion; it is grace-supplied energy.

3. Walk As Children of light

Eph. 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light…

– We stumble when we walk in the darkness, but wonderful is the truth that we are now children of light. We are led by God. He illuminates our path by illuminating our lives. We have Jesus as our constant Savior who is always with us. He is the light of life and we are in Him. He has made us children of light.
-Imagine a flashlight without batteries. There is no light. You are a flashlight that is Savior powered. He is the light. So you should shine for Jesus. Shine from Jesus. Shine with Jesus.
4. Walk Properly Toward Outsiders

1 Thess. 4:12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.
– The world is watching your walk. They can tell whose drum beat you are marching by. They can identify if you are reflecting the love of God and compassion of Jesus. They quickly see when your walk is improper. They may walk improperly but they expect a true Christian to be different.

5. Walk Worthy of the Lord

Col. 1:10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

-More than any other reason, we should walk the Christian walk because Jesus is worthy of it. Our walk should be worthy of Him. It should signal we are his; we love him; and, we live for him.
