THE VALUE OF THE BLOOD OF JESUSBy
Humor- A Major was assigned to a new office on a military base. While working to set up his office a Private knocked on his door. The Major quickly picked up the phone and motioned for the Private to enter. On the phone the Major said, “Yes sir, General Schwarzkopf, I think that is an excellent idea. (Pause) No sir, that’s fine, you call me any time, I’m glad I could help. (Pause) Yes sir, I will, and you give my best to your family as well. Thank you sir, and a good day to you too, General Schwarzkopf.”
As the Major hung up the phone he turned to the Private and asked, “What can I do for you Private?” Rather embarrassed, the Private mumbled, “Uh, sir, I’m just here to hook up the phone.” (Clean Jokes)
You don’t have to try to win points by proving yourself..YOUR’E IN!
1 Peter 1:18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1. IT WAS YOUR PURCHASE PRICE
Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
2. BY IT YOU WERE JUSTIFIED
Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
A 60-year-old man and his 60-year-old wife were celebrating
their 40th wedding anniversary when a Genie suddenly appeared and offered to grant each a wish.
The woman said, “I wish I could travel around the world with my husband.”
The Genie nodded and waved his hand and POOF! she was holding two tickets.
Then the husband said, “I wish I could travel around the world with a woman 30 years younger than me.” The Genie nodded and waved his hand, and POOF! the man was 90. (Clean Jokes)
Things can change quickly when we ask for the right things. When we ask God to forgive us, poof, we are changed!
3. BY IT YOU WERE FORGIVEN
Eph. 1: 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins
To be released from all offenses.
4. BY IT YOU ENTERED THE COMMONWEALTH
Eph 2:12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
5. BY IT YOU HAVE PEACE
Col 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
6. BY IT YOUR CONSCIENCE IS CLEANSED
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
A clear mind and heart. Guilt-free living.
7. BY IT WE ENTER THE HOLIEST
Heb 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Personal Testimony–I use to struggle with a great sense of unworthiness. I found myself in a “penance based” belief system. Not that I would have said it, but my actions indicated that I still tried to earn God’s acceptance. I thought that I had to do something for Him before He would do something for me. It was in my second year of seminary that I began experiencing significant breakthrough. I was reading a book required by Dr. Wilkes in the class entitled “The Holy Spirit and Devotional Life.” The book was written by a godly chinese pastor by the name of Watchman Nee and was entitled “The Normal Christian Life.” In that book there was a section about the blood of Jesus Christ and much that it was valued by God the Father. It was at that point that I recieved into my spirit that I was accepted by God the Father on the basis of what Jesus had done; not my own merit. I did not have to earn God’s love. I had it. God accepted me.
