Living the Lifted Life

LIVING THE LIFTED LIFE
By Eddie Lawrence

1. LIFTED UP THE FIRST TIME – HIS CRUCIFIXION

HE WAS LIFTED TO THE TREE

John 3: 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

– Share how Christ died for our sins.
-Share how we now are crucified with him that we might have power to live in victory over sin.

2. LIFTED UP THE SECOND TIME – HIS RESURRECTION
HE WAS LIFTED FROM THE TOMB

Matthew 28: 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

-Share how the resurrection is the validation of God that what Jesus did on the cross was sufficient.

-The resurrection is proof that death has been conquered.

-Share how we now are called to live in resurrection life. Paul said the same Spirit that brought Jesus from the dead, now lives in us (Romans 5).

-Challenge people to live in the place of resurrection and not allow their past to keep them under!

3. LIFTED UP THE THIRD TIME – HIS ASCENSION
HE WAS LIFTED TO THE THRONE

-Remember He told Mary right after his resurrection, that he had not yet ascended. So there is a difference in his resurrection and his ascension.

-In Acts 1, the disciples witnessed his ascension into heaven and were told he would return in like manner.

Ephesians 4:But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says:

“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

-Share that we now are able to live from the heavenly places because Christ is at the Father’s right hand and we are in him. He is in us through his Spirit here and we are in Him through His Spirit there.

-This is our true reference point of life. We walk in victory as sons and daughters and kings and priests.

-Paul calls us to set our minds on things above where Christ is seated.

4. LIFTED ALL THE TIME – HIS GLORY

HE IS LIFTED BY THE TONGUES OF MEN AND ANGELS

Philippians 2:  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

– He is and will be lifted up eternally before all as the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings and His name will be confessed by all to the glory of the Father.

Conclusion: We are live with the tree, the tomb, and the throne in view at all times. This summarizes for us the finished work of Christ and presents to us the way we live our lives.

Like Paul we can say:

Galatians 2: 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
