Our Sin on His Cross
by Eddie Lawrence
INTRODUCTION – The three crosses present the day Jesus died carry a message for each of us. Please allow me to use what Pastor Rod Parsley wrote about concerning these three crosses as a simple sermon outline that carries some very major truth from the Scripture.
Here is an excerpt from Pastor Parsley’s devotional thought and the link where you can find it in its entirety.
"There were three crosses. The cross in the middle bore the One who died for sin; another bore the one who died to sin; and the third bore the one who died in sin. Although both criminals originally railed Jesus, one asked for forgiveness and Jesus promised that man a home in Paradise. The other ridiculed His choice and now is spending eternity in hell." With the above thought in mind, let’s look at these three powerful messages about the relationship each of us have with sin. I want to ask you three questions:
1. DO YOU KNOW THE ONE WHO "DIED FOR SIN"?
There is only ONE who has ever lived, who lived a perfect life who qualifies to die for the sin of another — His name is Jesus. Do you know him?
Consider:
A. He died willingly – He could not be made to die.
B. He died sacrificially – He chose to die for the benefit of others.
C. He died lovingly – In his death, he expressed forgivness and demonstrated God’s love to us.
D. He died triumphantly – The Bible teaches that through his death, we can now receive life. His resurrection is the proof of his triumph over the penalty of sin which is death.
2. ARE YOU ONE WHO HAS "DIED TO SIN"?
This happens when Christ is confessed as Lord of your life through the repentance from your sin and faith toward Jesus Christ.
Consider:
A. Through faith in Christ – His righteousness becomes your righteousness>
B. You receive the guaranteed of the Holy Spirit as proof of your own future resurrection to life.
C. You are granted access to God as a child of God.
D. You are liberated from the consequences and condemnation of sin.
3. IF YOU DIED TODAY, WOULD YOU BE ONE WHO "DIED IN SIN"?
You will die some day, what if it were this day? Which cross would you be hangin on?
Consider:
A. Each of us have an appointment with death.
B. There is only one way to experience victory over death.
C. Waiting till a later time is playing Russian Roulette with your soul?
D. Whatever keeps you from trusting Christ now is one of the very things he died to set you free from.
E. Will you confess Christ now? Will you value what happened for you on the cross where there was One who died for sin.

HEAVEN’S NIAGARA–THE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
by Eddie Lawrence, D.Min.
INTRODUCTION — The Niagara River drains 255,000 square miles of mid-continental North America. Located on the border of New York State and the Ontario Province, it is the largest waterfalls in North America.
20% of the world’s fresh water lies within the Great Lakes region and most of it flows over Niagara Falls.
One and a half million gallons of water flow over the Niagara Falls every second, which is the equivalent of one cubic mile each and every week.
ILLUS- Annie Edson Taylor, a schoolteacher, was the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in a barrel in 1901, was 63 years old when she performed the stunt.
What in the world would move a 63 year old woman to go over Niagara falls in a barrel?
TRANSITION: There is another river that flows and has been pouring out of heaven into earth for almost 2000 years. I am speaking of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
There is something in each of us, that calls us for us to dive in and be swept away by its power and onward by its flow.
We all need to experience the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
ILLUS – "If you have the Word without the Spirit, you’ll dry up.
If you have the Spirit without the Word, you’ll blow up.
If you have both the Word and the Spirit, you’ll grow up." –Derek Prince
Let’s look at some of what the Word says about the Spirit:
Acts 2: 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
Acts 10: 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Romans 5: Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Titus 3: 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
TEXT WE SHALL STUDY TODAY:
Acts 2: 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
1. Resurrection and Ascension
32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
WE HAVE RESURRECTION POWER AND PROMISE
WE HAVE ACCESS TO ASCENDED LIVING
2. Exaltation at God’s Right Hand
33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God
WE HAVE RIGHT HAND BENEFITS
As Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, so are we seated in Him. aS such we now have the benefits of being at the Right Hand
A. Authority—Matthew 28:18
B. Power – Acts 1:8
C. Favor – Luke 4
As Jesus was Exalted the Spirit was poured out. It still works this way when we begin to exalt Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins to do powerful things in the hearts and lives of people.
3. Jesus Receives the Promise of the Father
and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit,
WE TOO ARE TO RECEIVE THE PROMISE
4. The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
He poured out this which you now see and hear.
TESTIMONY OF A. H. Hussey, — "I remember the step of faith in the dark. I said, ‘I give all to Christ; I yield all, everything I have.’ Then I received the Lord Jesus as my Sanctifier. No special feeling took possession of me, only more rest in God, more of the consciousness I was not my own. No definite feeling came until making a public confession. I said, ‘I am Christ’s; everything I possess is His.’ Peace and glory filled my soul. I began to teach this gospel truth, but I had not the power I desired. After this I sought definitely the enduement of power from on high. In an upper room alone I cried out to God. While I was praying a strange feeling came over my body, a strange moving in my heart. I said, ‘Come, Lord, come in Thy power; come, Holy Spirit, come.’ My heart was filled with glory, and I shouted, again and again, ‘Glory to God!’ Oh, it was real! Then I felt this Spirit of God permeating my being from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, and I was cleansed from all sin; the fire of the Holy Spirit was burning through my soul, and destroying everything of a corrupt nature; and the power was so great I lay prostrate for three hours all alone; and I saw how Jesus died for my sin as never before, and received a wonderful illumination of the Scriptures, so that I could comprehend what God designed for us to make us perfect in Christ Jesus, and that we should live wholly, entirely and altogether for Him, and serve Him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. That joy and peace and thrill continued for hours. During the whole night, when I could not sleep for joy, every insect seemed to say, ‘Glory to God,’ the clock seemed to say, ‘Praise God.’ And that continued for days. This was fifteen years ago. The thrill did not remain, but peace and joy have filled my soul from that day to this."
ILLUS—Praying John Hyde received a note on his way to India, “Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?” He was offended at first but then became convicted and cried out to be filled with the Holy Spirit and went on to impact a nation.
CONCLUSION: Heaven’s Niagara is flowing. Position yourself at the feet of Jesus and let the blessing of his right hand and the promise of the Father change your life.

AUDIO OVERVIEW OF THIS SERMON
Seven Reasons that You Must Believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
by Eddie Lawrence
Introduction– I believe in the literal resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that is an essential element of the very Gospel presented in the New Testament. I believe that is a foundational doctrine of any true Church.
1 Corinthians 15:12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
Transition– Paul teaches us what the Christian faith would look like if there were no resurrection of Jesus. It would mean that:
1. Jesus Body is Just Dust (v13, 16 Christ is not risen)
The absence of a literal resurrection means the absence of a risen Christ.
2. We Have No Gospel Message (v14, your faith is empty, v17 faith if futile)
What we believe as Christians is vain, useless, meaningless and without any substance in reality if there is no resurrection. Our faith is vain. If we do not believe the tomb is empty then it leaves us with a faith that is empty.
3. We Witnessess of the Life of Christ are all Liars (v15 we are false witnesses)
No resurrection, not true testimony.
4. The Pulpit is Silent (v14 preaching is empty)
Our preaching is vain without a resurrection. The preacher becomes a fraud peddling a message that is a well fabricated lie without the literal resurrection of Christ.
5. We Have No Remedy for Sin (v17 still in sin)
Romans 10:9-10 teaches us that we must believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead in order to be saved. Without a resurrected Jesus we are hopelessly lost.
6. Those Who Have Died Have Simply Perished (v18)
If there is no resurrection, the bodies of the dead will forever remain in the dead. There will be no reunion or afterlife.
7. Christians Are Saturated with Misery (19)
We are a miserable group who have held onto a hoax if there is no literal resurrection of the body of Christ.Without the risen Christ we are just bad news people not good news people.
Conlusion– Dear friends, do not allow unbelievers or even professing Christians who deny the resurrection to trick you into believing it is not an essential. We must agree with the Apostle Paul, the witnessess of the Scripture, the witnessess of history, and the witness of the precious Holy Spirit within us that "HE LIVES!"
