I have a question to ask you today–

Can Words Make Wishes Come True?

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
(Time in a Bottle, Jim Croce)

Key Passage

John 6:60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” 61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.

John 6:65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

In the passages just before above passage Jesus had been sharing his destiny, his dreams with his followers. He spoke of eating his flesh and drinking his blood. They were offended and confused because he had said he was the bread who had come down from heaven. He challenged by saying, "What if you see me go back up to heaven?" Jesus experienced what we often experience when we share our dreams with people. Today I want to talk about how words can release destiny. How they can make your wished come true.

Warning!
Today we will be studying one principle that will work in two different kingdoms!

There are three challenges I will make to you in understanding how dreams make your wishes come true:

1. Sort it out!
Jesus said there was flesh and Spirit. The Spirit gives life and the flesh profits nothing. How can you tell which one it is so that you can be sure what your sensing as your destiny is from the Lord? Here are some questions to help you.

Your Sort Questions
Is it flesh or spirit? (John 6:63)
Whose kingdom will it serve? (Matt.6:10)
Is it dark or light? (Ps 119:130)
Does it fulfill the golden rule? (Matt. 7:12)
Does it condemn? (John 3:17)
Does it redeem? (Luke 19:10)
Does it destroy the Devil’s work? (1 Jo.3:8)
Is it true? (John 14:6)
What will it do for humanity? (John 3:16)

“Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.”
Horace Mann’s challenge to the 1859 graduating class of Antioch University.

2. Speak it out!

The release of the human voice into the realm of earth is a powerful thing. God created the universe by speaking. The first assignment he gave Adam was to release his voice in a creative way to name the animals. We underestimate the power of our words. It is important to understand when to release these words. God’s promises are powerful and something happens when a person has faith in their heart for a promise and they speak it out.

The struggle of the unspoken thought! –Learning to discern when to share and not to share your dream with someone.
Share your dream with friends.
Speak life over the dreams of others.

The verse of an folk song tells the tale.
Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

On the range there are no people so there are no discouraging words!

Let’s commit to stop bashing other people’s dreams just because we don’t understand them.
No Dream Bashing Allowed!

Don’t Expect Everyone to Understand the words you speak
John 6: 60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”
John 6: 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

3. Sweat it out!

Your path will cross paths with the dream killers. Do like Joseph did when he was faced with what looked like an impossible situation concerning his dream–He just kept doing the right thing and working hard no matter where he was. He went from the pit to Potiphers, to prison, to the Palace of Pharoah.

Saying + doing
Talk is cheap!
The will of God is to be DONE!

John6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
Follow in the footsteps of jesus and he will lead you to your dream! Peter basically said, Lord we may not understand it all, but we are following you. We have to have the same revelation and heart as Peter.

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

Anne Frank, while hiding in her attic.

How Can Words Make Wishes Come True?
Fill your heart with God’s best for your life.
Speak God’s best out your mouth.
Expect God’s best in your life.
Serve God’s best from your heart.

I think that’s what it’s like with all our dreams and our nightmares, Martin, we’ve got to keep feeding them for them to stay alive.

Following are seven reasons for unbelief and the accompanying scriptures on which they are based. Add your teaching to the outline and it will help encouarge your people’s faith.

1. UNBELIEF COMES FROM BEING CONFINED TO THE NATURAL
Mark 6: 1Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. 2And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! 3“Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” And they were offended at Him. 4But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

2. UNBELIEF COMES FROM BEING UNPREPARED SPIRITUALLY
Matthew 17: 14And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16“So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

3. UNBELIEF COMES FROM REFUSING TO RECEIVE A CREDIBLE WITNESS CONSISTENT WITH THE WORD
Mark 16: 9Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. 10She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. 11And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe. 12After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country. 13And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either. 14Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

4. UNBELIEF COMES FROM DEPARTING FROM GOD
Hebrews 3: 7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, 8Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, 9Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ 11So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ” 12Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” 16For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

5. UNBELIEF COMES FROM IGNORING OR MISINTERPRETING THE SCRIPTURE
Romans 10: 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

6. UNBELIEF COMES FROM DENYING THE POWER OF GOD
2 Timothy 3: 1But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

7. UNBELIEF COMES FROM BEING DOUBLE-MINDED
James 1: 5If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Boundary School — Free Online Bible Study
The Grace to Live Life In-Bounds!

Session One
Preparing to Rebound!

God Established Boundaries
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God….
God is not Bound when it comes to His ability.
-Omniscience
-Omnipresent
-Omnipotent

When God recognizes a boundary, it is because it is one He has placed there for a purpose.

God Established Boundaries
Heaven — Not every one has access to Heaven, there are boundaries.
Eden — There were boundaries for Adam and Eve. God said it’s all yours except — the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The Law — is all about boundaries
The Land — God gave Abraham boundaries on the Land He gave him.
The Tabernacle — There were boundaries. Outer court, inner court, holy place, holy of holies, and limits on who and when)
In Christ — The place that New Testament believers dwell

The Incarnation

Boundless God chose to come and live within human bounds in order to give us what we need to….Live within the boundaries God originally intended for humanity to honor.

What is a boundary?
-A boundary is a line that has been established visibly or invisibly to help us recognize what is ours and what is not.
-A boundary is established to indicate  limitation.
-A boundary is established to provide true liberty.

Types of boundaries…

-Natural Boundaries (outer space, oceans, etc.)
-Dimensional Boundaries (time)
-Spiritual Boundaries (Legion, blood of Jesus, etc)
-Biological Boundaries (race, age, sex, DNA, etc.)
-Social Boundaries (relational, custom, etc.)
-Civil Boundaries (government, law, etc.)
-Moral Boundaries (adultery, murder, theft, etc)

Authority and Boundaries

-A boundary indicates an authority
-It can be legitimate or illegitimate authority
-Our “Dominion Nature” (We were made to exercise dominion)
-Our “Dominion Mandate” (We are called to establish the King’s domain)
-Our “Dominion Perversion” (We illegitimately use our authority and dominion)

The ultimate question – Who’s gonna be in charge?
We struggle with controlling one another.

Public and Private Access
Open Sign on a store means you can access
Closed Sign on a store means you cannot access (If you do, you become a violater. The same with our relationships.

Other examples of access in our daily lives
Public Access — Like a public park, all can enter
Private Access — a person’s backyard, only the invited are to enter
No Trespassing — means you are not allowed to enter without permission
Owners and Tenants — each have certain rights of access at certain times

Why this teaching?
-The “yes” and “no” factory… (human beings are yes and no factories. Are daily lives are a continual string of yes and no.) We make choices and our choices make us.
-Every war is over a boundary of some sort.
-Living in bounds brings blessing in the long run.
-Violating boundaries causes havoc and chaos for us and others.

Why are there boundaries?
-For us to experience freedom.
-For us to live honorable lives.
-For us to live mutually enjoyable lives.
-For us to be able to function together in a way that benefits all of us.
-For us to experience the what God intended
-To keep us from killing each other off!

A Passage to Remember
Acts 17:24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.

Acts 17:24-29 (continued)
Acts 17:26 And He has made from one blood[a] every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;

Acts 17:24-29 (continued)
Acts 17:28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ 29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.

Five Words to Remember
(related to living within God’s prescribed boundaries)
Providence — God has chosen the boundaries of our lives. When and where and to whom we would be born.
Purpose — God has a purpose in all these things.
Power — God has the power to work all things together for good to those who love him and are called to His purpose.
Perseverance — Our role is to keep living and trusting. God will not ultimately fail the trusting heart.
Prayer — This is our way of partnering with the plans and purposes of God in our lives.

Think of it this way…Prayer is basically our asking God to do border patrol. Ministry is often our using God given authority to enforce or remove a border.
