FOUR TRUTHS ABOUT THE GOD OF CHRISTMAS

Introduction: As you look at the Scriptures surrounding the Christmas story, there are four truths I want to share with you that speak to us that the God who was at work at the first Christmas, is the same God that is at work to bless you this Christmas.

1. HE IS THE GOD WHO BRINGS YOU GOOD NEWS

Illus- We all have been shocked by the event in Newtown, Conn that happened this past Friday. Such bad news reminds us of the worst sorts of evil in our world. We can be grateful that we have the ongoing message of the good news to share with people who are hurting in such times as these. God is good. His will toward us is good. The angels announced the message of God's good will toward men. He is the help for hurting hearts.

Look at this Scripture from the Christmas story.

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings…which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10,11).

2. HE IS THE GOD WHO DOES THE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU

In these days of unrest and instability He remains the God who can make a way when there seems to be no way. Look at this Scripture from the Christmas story.

"Fear not, Mary:… the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:…For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:30, 35, 37).

3. HE IS THE GOD WHO ANSWERS YOUR PRAYER

Who do you talk to when you have no one to talk to? He answers prayer. Who do you talk to when you have everyone to talk to? He is still the One with the answer.

Look at this Scripture from the Christmas story.

"Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John" (Luke 1:13).

4. HE IS THE GOD WHO GUIDES YOUR STEPS

When questions of direction, guidance, what to do, come forth, know He has your best interest at heart when He guides you. Just like he did Joseph, He will supernaturally guide the steps of your life.

Look at this Scripture from the Christmas story.

"Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:…Then Joseph …did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him" (Matthew 1:20,24).

CONCLUSION- Will you turn to Him this Christmas? Will you remember that He still is the Prince of Peace? He wants to share good news with you. He desires to work in your life to bring about the impossible. He will hear and answer your prayers and guide your steps. What an awesome God He is.

Will you pray to Him right now? Will you receive His peace right now? Lets stand and begin to seek Him in this moment as ……..
